PATH is partnering with Vietnam’s National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology to assess the operational feasibility of integrating quantitative point-of-care G6PD testing in district hospitals and commune health stations.

The study will assess health worker proficiency in performing G6PD diagnostic tests and fidelity to correct treatment according to G6PD test results. Cost data will also be collected and health worker and patient perceptions of G6PD testing will be assessed.

This PATH Diagnostics study, funded by the UK’s FCDO is taking place in two provinces in Vietnam at nine sites (district hospitals and commune health stations). Data collection began in October 2020 and is due to be completed in early 2021.
