Western Pacific
There was an estimated 1.9 million cases of malaria in the Western Pacific Region in 2022. 27.3% of cases were caused by P. vivax, an increase from 17% in 2000. Vanuatu had a 253% increase in vivax malaria cases from 2021 to 2022, going from 212 cases in 2021 to 1,102 cases in 2022.1
