Treatment and complications of vivax malaria in Vietnam.

With the return of thousands of United States servicemen from Southeast Asia each year, exposure to unfamiliar diseases provides potential diagnostic problems to the physician and the civilian as well as military practice. The most common tropical disease problem seen in this country, however has been that of vivax. During the past few years, approximately 2000 cases have been diagnosed annually in the United States. since many cases develop after the servicemen have departed a military facility, the practicing physician must be aware of the presentation, treatment and complications of malaria.

The following report deals with 121 cases of Plasmodium vivax malaria treated from June 1967 through January 1969 at the United States Air Force Hospital, Cam Ramh Ray, South Viet Nam.
