Treatment of vivax malaria by pyrimethamine (daraprim) and quinine.

Sir Gordon Covell and his colleagues wrote in 1953: "It is clear that pyrimethamine unaided is not a satisfactory drug for the treatment of vivax malaria in a non-immune subject." The two main reasons for this conclusion is its slowness of clinical response and the high relapse rate.
