Circulating interferon in patients with Plasmodium falciparum, P. ovale and P. vivax malaria.

The production of interferon in mice experimentally infected with Plasmodium berghei and its efficiency against the proliferation of the parasite are well documented (Huang et al 1968; Sauvager et al, 1979; Schutz et al, 1968; Jahiel et al, 1968, 1970; Sauvager and Fauconnier, 1978). To our knowledge, the prevalence of circulating interferon during naturally occurring human infections has not yet been reported.
