Serum cholesterol and total lipids were estimated before and after treatment in patients with P. vivax malaria. The cholesterol and lipid levels were significantly lower in malarial patients as compared to normal healthy volunteers. These two parameters also showed significant increase immediately after treatment, as compared to their initial levels at the onset of the fever.
